A legendary creature in Persian mythology, the Manticore is a beast with the head of a man, the body of a lion, and the tail of a scorpion. It has sharp claws that can tear apart its prey, and its scorpion tail can shoot poisonous stings like arrows. The Manticore lurks in the tall grasses of the jungle, exposing its human face and pretending to be a vulnerable, old man. Once its victim draws closer, the beast chomps down on its prey, swallowing its body whole along with all of its possessions.
